I am spending my weekend
Feb. 17th, 2013 05:10 pmreading Mark D. West's Secrets, Sex and Spectacle: The Rules of Scandal in Japan and the United States. Chicago: Univ. of Chicago Press, 2006.
damn interesting! and high-profile! (the nickname "Beat" Takeshi became a completely new meaning and I
really wonder how this is NOT connected to mob-ties - just saying...)
although I am slow since I'm not used to such an amount of law-related vocabulary, but I manage even without a dictionary (thanks to reading on japansubculture.com) and that makes me weirdly proud
I am now intersted in those:
Law in Everyday Japan: Sex, Sumo, Suicide, and Statutes. Chicago: Univ. of Chicago Press, 2005.
and even more since it's newer:
Lovesick Japan: Sex, Marriage, Romance, Law. Ithaca: Cornell Univ. Press, 2011.
his online-bibliography notes some interestig articles as well:
Mark D. West Publications
