clara_maria_homeour's is finally over...it's more like september outside, but I love this golden light (OK, now it's raining)...I'm more of a spring or autumn-person than summer...
but I've read in Japan it's still really hot and humid, over 130 people already died (I guess almost all were elderly...) and the guys starting their tour in a few days...it will be intense...hopefully Oh-chan's healthy again -.-

It's been feeling a lot like autumn over here. I wished summer had lasted longer, though. It is the first time I welcomed warm and humid weather. I think I needed warmness to reach me deep in my skin, for some reason. I felt very comforting. :D

Loosing books to a flood? ... T_T How terrible. If there is one thing I value, it is books. Am sorry... Losing an entire collection when one hasn't even had time to read them...
Emotional, Gabaldon's books? Heck, yes, they are. If a book can neither move me nor humour me, then I am not interested. Her works, she makes me dream, fear, anticipate, breathe, lust, and laugh!! The type of writings you cannot put down. And her world and characters... I am in complete denial that those aren't real. Oh! And she also educates!
I cannot recommend it more, unless you have compulsory readings. If you do, it might get in the way of your studies. :P
Her books. They hurt too... But they also heal. *smiles*

now I've got a bit more time for reading following my own interest outside german literature...but I'm packed with loads of japanese stuff ^-^ like Mishima, Inoue, Soseki (I'm reading Botchan right now, it's hilarious...love it), Murakami (Norwegian Wood made me unbelievable sad...and inspired me - I'm looking forward to this film-version, but bit anxiously)...

Date: 2010-08-17 03:28 pm (UTC)OH, I never will be able to read them in japanese (although that's my golden goal...but I tend to get myself higher goals than I will be able to achieve...), I'm studying the basics...that's tough enough...
but I'm really interested in many different aspects of jaoanese culture (and the idol-/talento-sub-culture was one of those minor interests too...until it became my major subject of admiration, just because of those sexy little guys sucking up my energy (no pun intended))
but, I read all of them in english (because those are often the better translations...), and learning that way...my english still needs to improve to be called good, but it's much more better than in school...I was horrible back then T__T

Yes. Canada. Québec, the French province, is really only French. Some English speakers in Montréal, but that is the exception. No, really, kids don't grow up hearing both languages, We aren't exposed to English unless we take the necessary steps to be, and to learn. :)

Date: 2010-08-17 06:23 pm (UTC)Yes, indeed, still at work. It is exceedingly quiet, so I decided to listen to some soft music with one earphone used. Otherwise, I would just fall asleep.
I finished QCing the translation of ep.06 of My Girl, and am now halfway into QCing ep.08. Still 2.5 more hours at work, so I hope to have the time to QC ep.10, (QC= quality check), and to then start the translation of episode 09. I somehow skipped ep.09, to be done with ep.10, which is seriously painful to me.
If I am lucky, I will have time to start the translation of Kobe on Thursday, and to follow it through to Friday. I wonder how much of it I can get done at work over two quiet days. :D
Wow... I just keep rambling, don't I? Please excuse me. I really get carried away when it comes to planification.

I do enjoy translating all day and getting paid while doing it. It's a most enjoyable summer job. ;D

I don't know if it works very differently in Germany, but real estate agencies is where I work during the schoolyear, and it is a fine workplace, I would say. :)
